Getting To Know Us

In this blog, we want to introduce you to Alison and Jess, the creators behind Seoul Glow.

Why did you create Seoul Glow?

Alison:

I’ve been obsessed with beauty (both skincare and makeup) for years and love talking to my friends and family about all things beauty.   After meeting Jess and endless discussions about our mutual passion for K-Beauty, it seemed natural for us to create Seoul Glow to introduce as many people as possible to K-Beauty.  I love the idea of sharing my passion of all things beauty.

Jess:

I love trying out different skincare products and I always get excited sharing and introducing my friends and family to new products. When Alison and I met a couple of years ago, we quickly discovered our mutual love for K-Beauty and eventually started talking about how great it would be to bring more of this over to the UK. After many discussions, countless meetings and a lot of planning, Seoul Glow was born.

How would you describe your skin type?

Alison:

Normal to dry.  I used to get occasional breakouts but I think that was down to a very poor diet, but luckily don’t get too many breakouts anymore.   I have freckles which come out more in the summer - need to keep on top my the SPF-ing!

Jess:

Acne prone skin – Sadly, I've not been blessed with good skin and the slightest change in hormones, climate, diet…in fact you name it and it'll probably have an effect on my skin.

Why do you like K-Beauty?

Alison:

The products and the ingredients they contain are so innovative - and affordable compared to many western products!

Jess:

Over the years, I have learnt to control my breakouts more and K-Beauty products have been a key part of this. The products are so innovative and Koreans are ahead of most when it comes to cosmetic and skincare technology.

What is your favourite K-Beauty brand?

Alison:

Oh this a hard one, but I might have to say Laneige because the quality of both their makeup and skincare is excellent.  It’s hydrating which is perfect for my skin.

Jess:

There are so many excellent K-Beauty brands, it's difficult to pick a favourite! However the brand I have the most products from is Corsx because I find their products great for my skin type.

What non K-Beauty skincare brands do you like?

Alison:

Oh there’s too many!  I use a lot of The Ordinary and my HG balm cleanser is the Emma Hardie Moringa cleansing balm. I’ve also used Lancome a lot since my teens and always go back to it.

Jess:

The Ordinary (great range of active ingredients to target various skin concerns), LUSH (their fresh face masks are an absolute treat) and DHC (one of the best oil cleansers I've used).

Name your three holy grail K-Beauty products.

Alison:

  1. Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum
  2. Laneige Water Sleeping Mask
  3. Banila Co Clean It Zero

Jess:

  1. Laneige Water Sleeping Mask
  2. Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence
  3. Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner

Finally, what's the best skincare advice you have ever received?

Alison:

Drink more water and always take your makeup off before you sleep!

Jess:

Focus on hydration
