In this blog, we thought it would be nice to let you know what Alison’s morning and evening skincare routine is. We’d love to hear your comments and/or recommendations as we’re always looking to try new things!
AM routineI don’t double cleanse in the morning, so I jump straight into water cleansing. I use Shiseido Senko Perfect Whip. It foams up great, leaves my skin feeling clean and prepped for everything else, and is super affordable! Immediately after cleansing, I use Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Serum EX which absorbs quickly and makes my skin feeling plump.
I then use Etude House Wonder Pore to freshen my skin and tighten my pores – it’s light and perfect for mornings. After toner, I usually a serum from The Ordinary. I’ve been through quite a few but at the moment, I am alternating between The Buffet and Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5.
After a few minutes, I moisturise! My go-to is Lancome Hydra Zen. I’ve been using Lancome on and off since I was 15(!) and have experimented with A LOT of different moisturises, but always gravitate towards Lancome, especially in the winter. It is SPF 30+ which is bonus as I don’t always use additional SPF in the winter.
Finally, it’s SPF time! I wear it (nearly) every day in the summer. In the winter, I put it on when I’ll be outdoors a lot (which isn’t often to be honest). I like La Roche Posay Anthelios XL SPF 50, Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF50 and Thank You Famer Sun Project Sun Cream SPF50+ PA +++.
PM routineI love make up and wear it every day, but I’m just as keen to take it all off before I sleep to let me skin breathe. I use Nivea Double Effect Eye Make Up Remover (fab dupe for Lancome Bi-Facil which I used to spend all my money on), Bioderma Sensibio (the OG ‘Micella’ water), Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm or Banila Clean It Zero cleansing balm (using a microfiber cloth to take off any leftover make up) and then a water cleanser (Shiseido Senko Perfect Whip) or a daily scrub – I love the “Yes To” daily facial scrub. If I’m not using the facial daily scrub, then I’ll use the Cure Natural Aqua Gel as an exfoliator.
Now that the make-up is all off, I put all the goodness back in my skin! I use Sulwahsoo First Care Activating Serum EX - I switch between using this before and after toner in the evenings. As evening toner, I use Pixi Glow Toner which gently exfoliates my skin. As a serum, I use The Ordinary Retinoid (I have various strengths) and then The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2%. If I have any breakouts, I add some Innisfree Green Tea Seed serum to my routine, which I’ve been using and loving for years.
For eye cream, I use Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Cream which I lightly pat around my eyes. Finally, I moisturise; I interchange between Mizon All in One Snail Repair Cream and Laneige Water Sleeping Mask, which I absolutely swear by.
